In a related story, a couple of days ago I talked to some boys who were digging a hole in the playground using a large pick ax. Did I mention they were completely unsupervised? When I told them this would not be happening in the U.S. they hammed it up to make it look even more dangerous.
Turns out they were putting up the goal posts for a moment like this at today's games. (Note the two bamboo poles at the goal line.)
The students played several games with great enthusiasm while everyone watched. Even during a downpour of rain.
The school principal, who organized all of the games, was right in the middle of everything all day.

Hi Caitlyn -It is so nice to hear from you! Write now the school is preparing for a day of games. They have been playing preliminary matches I badminton, volley ball, and football (soccer) every afternoon. They are very excited about sports day. There will be prizes, trophies and, of course, the possibility of winning the championship game!
ReplyDeleteIsabella - The weather is Hot. The humidity is very high by mid-day and right now it is the season for thunderstorms. Every afternoon the storms roll in. We unplug everything, especially the computer because there are usually power cuts throughout the afternoon. There is also no air-conditioning where I am staying so it is pretty hot and sweaty most of the time...evenings are breezy.
There is a laundry schedule. Everyone gets two days a week to wash clothes. The students have about four uniforms so two are getting used while two are drying. I think you have to be pretty organized to always have something clean to wear.
caitlyn&isabella-when do you come back? are you going to ever go back?
